Volunteering

The ACT Show Jumping Club Inc is a non-profit organisation managed and operated by volunteers. If you would like to help or be involved in the club, there are many ways the club needs assistance. Without the support of all volunteers and members, training and competition days cannot be run.

If you are new or unsure as to how to help out, make sure you come up and say hi to any of our volunteers, or see our announcer on the day who will point you in the right direction.

Please contact us at actshowjumpingclub@gmail.com if you are interested in volunteering at any of our club days.

Course Building/Setting up/Pole Picking

If you are a 'hands on' worker, we have many jobs which need doing each Club day (training & competition):

  • Setting up

  • Course designing (accreditation required - we can help you get this!)

  • Putting up arenas

  • Pole picking on the day

  • Packing up at the end of the day

Judging/Pencilling

Each competition day we require officials for the following positions:

  • Judging (accreditation required - we can help you get this!)

  • Pencilling

  • Time keeping

  • Results runner

Marshaling

Do you have a loud voice and the ability to organise? This is the job for you! Being a 'gate marshall' is one of the most crucial jobs of the day, to enable the day to run smoothly & efficiently. In essence, you communicate with riders as to when they can warm up, and when they are required in the ring, as per the draw.
